Staff Raffle Series—Official Rules


Raffle: Staff Raffle

Raffle Period: The raffle begins at 8am on Friday, December 2, 2022, and ends at 3pm on Friday, December 9, 2022 (the "raffle period").

Eligibility: You must receive your paycheck from BWH, BWFH, or MGB to be eligible to win. Employees of MGB affiliates and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are not eligible to enter at this time. BWH Event Fundraising and IS staff directly involved with the execution of the Raffle are not eligible to enter or win.

Raffle Tickets: Raffle tickets may be purchased for ten dollars ($10) for one (1) ticket, twenty-five dollars ($25) for three (3) tickets, fifty dollars ($50) for eight (8) tickets, or one-hundred dollars ($100) for twenty (20) tickets online at bwhgiving.org/raffle. Following entry online, participants will receive a confirmation email. 100% of proceeds from the raffle will go to the Brigham Fund, which supports the hospital’s greatest needs and allows us to be bold in pursuing new opportunities.

Prizes and Odds: There will be fourteen (14) prize winners. Odds depend on the number of eligible entries received. All prizes are drawn and awarded at random.

Selection of Winners: Fourteen (14) winners will be determined in random drawings occurring after 3pm on Friday, December 9, 2022.

Prize Delivery and Winner Verification: The potential winner of each prize will be notified by email. If a potential winner cannot be reached after 48 hours from the first notification attempt, or if a participant is found to be ineligible, or if the notification is returned or undeliverable, or if a participant declines the prize, that participant will forfeit all rights as the winner, and an alternate winner will be selected. In the event the alternate winner declines the prize, the prize may be designated for another fundraising event at Brigham and Women’s Hospital’s sole discretion. The winner will agree to allow their name to be used to inform the raffle participants and hospital community about the recipient of the prize. The identity of the winner for each raffle in the series can be obtained by visiting bwhgiving.org/raffle. Winners will be notified on Friday, December 9, 2022, and names will be posted as soon as they have accepted their prizes.

Taxes: Each individual winner will be responsible for all applicable state and federal income taxes. Raffles are considered to be a form of lottery and associated prizes are considered income by the federal and MA tax authorities. The federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS) advises that no portion of a raffle ticket price is deductible as a charitable contribution when filing federal income taxes.

  • Two tickets to the NHL Winter Classic at Fenway Park on January 2, 2023 (one winner)
  • Two tickets to the Carrie Underwood: The Denim and Rhinestones Tour at TD Garden on February 17, 2023 (one winner)
  • $1,000 VISA gift card (two winners)
  • $500 VISA gift card (two winners)
  • $250 VISA gift card (six winners)
